(More customer reviews)These pillow protectors are so sturdy that they don't let air out. You lie down on it and your head is on air. I've had to open the zipper and press most of the air out and zip it back up quickly. They are not hot either. My head doesn't sweat when I sleep on it like the regular vinyl ones. I'm not sure they last a whole lot longer than the regular vinyl but I believe their much better if you have allergies
