(More customer reviews)We kept the baby in this in our room for the first two months. It was so nice to have her close without having her in bed with us. The newborn napper with vibrations and nature sounds is great for making a fussy baby feel secure. We use the sound/vibration unit everyday and only had to change the batteries once in 4 months. She outgrew the newborn napper by 3 months old (she was tiny at birth, 6lbs 10 oz, a larger baby will obviously outgrow this accessory sooner). The attached changing table works out well too. It is low, as another review said, but better than changing on the floor. The diaper holder is small too, but held enough for a few days at a time. We kept additional clothes, creams, etc on the matress directly below the changing table.
When we moved her to the crib, we detatched the vibration/sound control equipment from the pack & play and hooked them to the crib - they fit perfectly and helped with the transition. This unit comes in several colors, we recommend gender neutral if this is your first child. This was one of our best pieces of baby gear and it will grow with her which is a bonus. I rated it four stars because there is no place to store the accessories (napper, rails, changing table, 2nd matress level) when the pack & play is folded into its case and there is no option to plug the unit into an outlet rather than running off the batteries. Granted we didn't move it at all when she was still using these items, but it would be nice for long term storage. Instead, we keep everything in a drawer in her room. Now that she will be starting daycare in January (5 months old)we'll send the pack & play with her. We're hoping that the sound/vibration unit will help her get to sleep easier while she is away from home, along with a sense of familiar surroundings of 'her bed'.
