We did have a friend whose student put on his cover only to pull too hard and split the seams of the zippered cover. I don't know if the mattresses were the same height and size, but we warned our child about this incident, before she made the bed. The cover seems to do the trick and again, this was just a mom's paranoia that drove me to buy this item.
