This made-in-Italy sham is really nice and of good quality. 100% cotton and flower pattern makes my living room more decorated than ever. Highly recommended for home decoration.

This smooth, crisp Euro sham adds a touch of floral elegance and charm to the bedroom. It also livens up a den or living room suite for a nice decorative tie-in. Part of the coordinating Pinzon Floral Italian Cotton Percale Bedding Collection, the sham pairs as well with Pinzon's Italian Paisley collection, or stands confidently on its own with any collection. The pattern is vat printed on the cotton with a swan finish for a softer hand and wrinkle resistance. A ruffled flange all around adds a great final decorative touch. The 26-by-26-inch Euro sham employs an envelope closure for easy pillow insertion and removal and is easy to care for at home in the washer and dryer. Of 100-percent cotton in a percale weave, the sham is expertly made in Italy at an eco-friendly textile mill that treats and purifies water it uses, and 40 percent is recycled in the manufacturing process. The power plant uses up to 50 percent renewable fuels and filter 99 percent of the emissions generated by combustion.
Fabric Definition Percale: Percale woven fabrics provide a clean, crisp, cool feel, a perfect match with bed linens. Percale weaves can be made of any fiber but are usually cotton or a cotton/polyester blend. The fibers are tightly woven in a plain weave, meaning the warp and weft threads cross each other one at a time. This one-over, one-under weave is what makes a fabric Percale. Percale clothing usually runs around 80 square (80 threads by 80 threads), or 160 threads per square inch. Heavy grades in higher counts are used for bed sheeting. Percale sheets are high quality, smooth, and soft, since the fibers comprising the thread are usually first combed (opened and cleaned of impurities) and carded (separated into individual, cleaned fibers). Percale sheets have a thread count of at least 180 threads per inch and commonly run to over 200 threads per inch. Percale sheeting was first made in 1876 by Wamsutta Mills in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Percale fabric is rugged and versatile, with many uses now in clothing, curtains, and bedding.
History of the Textile Mill Founded in 1957 by young brothers Bernardo and Umberto Mascioni, the Mascioni textile factory is acclaimed worldwide for the design, creation, and production of superior fabrics. Initially the firm cut, sewed, and marketed silk scarves and cotton handkerchiefs, and went on to become the first company in Europe to print tablecloths and sheets with its own brand name. The brand became well known and was sold in the best stores and boutiques all over Europe, such as Harrods in London, Galleries Lafayette in Paris, and Cesari in Rome. Today, Mascioni mainly operates in home textiles, but also works in the apparel and hi-tech fabric industries. They are experts in textile printing, dyeing, and finishing, and are credited for style and technological innovations, such as vat printing, Dreamcotton, and Dreamlinen finishing. Mascioni uses only state-of-the-art equipment while respecting the environment and the safety of its employees. The water used in the mill are treated and purified, and 40 percent is recycled in the manufacturing process. Mascioni power plants use up to 50 percent renewable fuels and filter 99 percent of the emissions generated by combustion.
History of the Region The mill operates in the Lombardy region of northern Italy, in the city of Cuvio. The region has a historical background in textile production. The famous silks of Como and the cottons of the Varese area are internationally known. Many prestigious fashion brands originated in this area. Nearby is Italy's business capital, Milan, which is often considered the fashion capital of the world and the place for style, quality, and design innovation. Northern Italy is also the leading producer of rice in Europe, and Lombardy is home to one of the best rice-growing areas. The rice from this region is used in such dishes as "Risotto alla Milanese," a creamy dish of braised short-grain rice blended with meat stock, saffron, and cheese which, together with breaded veal cutlets (Veal Milanese), represents a true Milanese specialty.
