(More customer reviews)We bought our Babee Tenda baby converting crib years ago for our first child. After two boys, it is now being used as a toddler bed for our youngest daughter. This baby bed and toddler bed combination has been everything we could have asked for.
We bought it at a baby show for about $800 which sounds like a lot until you start to price other converting cribs. For $800 we received the whole crib with mattress and box support and also wetting pads built in, side rails for the toddler bed, everything needed to convert it to a toddler bed and even a day bed, no need for buying extra mattresses or special extensions, three crib sheets, dust ruffle, special side door for that dangerous climbing out phase all three of my kids went through, teething surfaces on all four top sides and it even has two drop sides which made it much more convenient since our crib was centered on the far wall of the baby's room. I priced converting cribs just recently and by the time you add everything together at the our popular baby store it came to about $1,000 and still did not have some of the great features our Babee Tenda baby crib has. And we used it already for 3 children!
Finding other sheets was never a problem. We stayed away from those junkie name brands and stayed with Carter sheets and never had a problem. The mattress is a few inches bigger for the toddler bed stages, but it is also a few inches thinner which is why any quality baby crib sheet fits. We are using the same mattress for all three of our kids. The built in wetting pad keeps it sanitary and there aren't any springs to wear out inside the mattress. The box support it comes fits below the mattress and is what seems to give it a much greater life span than store mattresses.
The quality and construction of this Babee Tenda baby crib can't be found anywhere. It is steel framed and bolted together. No clips. No wires. After three kids this crib looks new.
Special features other cribs don't seem to have anymore: This crib has drop sides on the front and the back of this crib. Teething strips on all 4 top sides so the child can't chew on the wood. It also has an exclusive special side door which has been a real blessing for the climbing out of the crib stage.
The Babee Tenda baby converting cribs have been around for over 70 years and not once have I ever found any recalls or safety issues posted about this crib, unlike what I have seen in stores today. According to our news station in just recent months there has been over 4 million brand new cribs recalled because of serious accidents and even many deaths.
The only negative I have ever found was from a few people who went to a baby show and were given a bunch of free coupons and certificates for other companies. They were not happy with the free things, so they complained. We only used one of those coupons, but we really can't complain because they were free and our children's safety has always come first. Finally, the safety, construction and special features this Babee Tenda baby converting crib comes with is what has made it money very well spent.

Kidco Convertible Crib Rail Review

(More customer reviews)I did not actually buy this product from Amazon, but I wanted to review it here for others as I find the reviews extremely helpful.
We have a convertible crib that we recently converted from crib to the toddler bed. Like a lot of kids, our son moves a lot in his sleep. Even though the bed was 6-8 in off the ground, I was worried he'd fall out of bed anyway. At first we intended to buy a regular bed rail, knowing at some point we'll get a twin bed for his room. However, some reviews I read specifically mentioned that those rails would not fit a toddler bed or a convertible crib, and I was worried they'd be too long for the toddler bed anyway.
Once it was assembled, it was very easy to install onto the bed. A great feature is that the rail itself snaps in and out of the brackets easily, so it can be removed in seconds to change the sheets, etc. It fits the bed well and there aren't any gaps or movement of the rail for anything to get caught in.
The directions, however, are lacking. There is a diagram on the first page listing all the parts and labeling them as A, B, C, etc. The actual directions are on the next page (like a book) and say something like "Connect Bed Rail A to Bracket B" so I kept having to flip back and forth to determine what part I was working with and where it was going etc. There are no drawings accompanying the directions themselves and I found the directions, while somewhat detailed, were still confusing. We got it all together and then determined, while installing it on the bed, that we'd put the brackets in backwards so we had to take them out. That was kind of a pain b/c they snap together sort of like tent poles, with the holes and the buttons to press down to "release" and the release part was hard. We had to use a screwdriver to get it to release.
I think that these directions really, really need to have pictures with each step b/c it was very difficult to know if we were putting things together correctly (which we did not, apparently!) Once it's together, it's very easy to put on the bed itself.
The other comment I have is that our crib/bed has 3 mattress levels. We had the mattress on the very lowest level and then when we converted the bed to the toddler bed and put the rail on, we actually had to raise the mattress back to the middle level. It's hard to explain here but the product has a strap that connects to the opposite side of the mattress, and then you tighten it. Then it also has this rectangular bar structure that is supposed to lay flat on the mattress, with the brackets for the rail resting on the outside/other side of the mattress. With the mattress in the lowest position, the bar structure was laying at an angle - basically the bracket side higher than the spring part of the bed b/c the brackets were resting on the outside rail of the bed, so we raised the mattress back to the middle level so the bar would rest flat against the mattress spring base.

(More customer reviews)My wife bought this crib for our second baby recently, even though we were both a little skeptical about buying a crib online "sight unseen". As with most parents, the first baby crib buying experience is filled with countless hours of research, visits to Babys'R'Us and other specialty baby furniture stores, and highlighting through the latest Baby Bargains book. With the second baby, however, its all about convenience of shopping. Since the high reviews of this crib, we decided to give this a try.
The crib arrived in 1 flat carton, a little larger in size than a baby mattress. Upon opening the carton, the contents were well packaged. Most of the pieces (side panels, base) are pre assembled. The finish is a nice dark Espresso in a pleasing tone. As with similarly priced items though, the finish is a little easy to get dinged, so have to be a little careful in the assembly. The assembly instructions are a little sparse but since there are few pieces to assemble, it's easily doable.
Assembly requires attaching the 4 bottom posts to the base using 1 dowel and 1 screw each. Next attach some metal strips to the side walls for the mattress base spring. Each side panel is then attached to the base with 3 dowels and 2 screws and to the adjacent panels with 2 screws. The mattress rest (wire spring base on which the mattress rests) attaches to the walls with 4 screws. That's it, you're done.
The mattress height adjustment has 3 (or maybe 4, can't recall) height levels to progress from infant to toddler stages. The included toddler bed front panel is a great must have to extend the use of this crib.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Take heed that the words "convertible" for cribs can mean one of 3 things. It can either mean that a crib can be modified to have a lower/half front rail for the toddler stages OR that the crib can be converted to a full size bed using the two long sides of the crib OR both options are available. This crib ONLY HAS the first option available of a half height/half length front rail. IT CANNOT BE CONVERTED TO A FULL SIZE BED. Just so you know.
Overall construction/finish is good. Assembly is easy. And the convertible aspect earns this crib a 5 star (bang for the buck) rating in my book.

It comes already assembled (90%), heavy with rails on the sides of each drawer, and solidly crafted to last (you can change out the heart handles as the child grow older). The only drawback was that sometimes the screws for the hearts were not the correct lengths causing them to pierce through the heart or not hold them in place (no instruction included). A quick call to the Amazon promptly solved these problems. I just know this is a common problem as I ordered several furniture products from this company to match the set for two daughters.

Kidco Convertible Crib Bed Rail Review

(More customer reviews)Apparently finding a bed rail for a convertible crib is very difficult. This is the only brand I could find. My first advice would be to buy a convertible bed from a manufacturer that sells its own crib rails, or buy a regular crib and then a toddler bed! I'm happy with this product. When I looked at an online manual, it showed the rail attaching to the mattress, but when I got it, the instruction manual shows to attach it to the crib frame. I like that better, because I can now remove the mattress without removing the rail. I did find one drawback with this product. Our crib mattress fits into the platform frame where it sits down a little. Meaning there's a lip on the frame, so it isn't flat across. Using this product now prevents the mattress from fitting all the way down onto the platform. This was not that much of a problem though, for me. The rail does not leave a lot of room to get in and out if you put it in the center, so I moved it closer to the head to give my daughter more space to scoot out the bottom. I think it's an adequate product if you have a convertible crib from a manufacturer that does not sell crib rails. (Mine is a Delta Jasmine).

Mattress is a little thin and it isn't strong enough to hold its form with sheets (the elastic pulls the mattress so that it doesn't snuggly fit the sides of the crib. Very beautiful and somewhat easy to assemble, however, it either takes an amazingly flexable person or a second person as you assemble the short sides to the mattress support then attatch the long sides and its impossible to hold straight to screw one side on while the other side isnt attatched and "flopping" around. As far as durability, its pretty dang sturdy! My 6 and 4 year olds (being the big brothers that they are) have "tested" it to make sure it wont fall on the baby by jumping in it repeatedly and it hasn't even cracked with their combined weight (103 lbs total). The only down thing I have found with it is that the prescrewed holes for assembly dont stop and you have to check to make sure your not coming out the finished side.

(More customer reviews)I was set to get the Sleigh Crib from PBK. But then when we moved into our new house, I realized that crib would way way to large for the baby's room. It would not fit a changing table, the crib and a rocker/glider. Therefore, I needed to somehow compromise. I started researching again and by accident came across this crib. I fell in love w/ it as soon as I saw it, but I was skeptical about buying it, because so many reviews said they had received damaged products. I wished I could go into a store and see it first. That was not possible, so I still went ahead and bought the crib (emotional/impulse buying I guess). The crib arrived after 4-5 days of ordering it and the box was a little damaged on the outside. I panicked thinking that it was going to be damaged inside as well. I am 8 months pregnant and this box is huge when it comes...and very heavy....I did not touch it myself, I had the carrier leave it at my door and when my husband came home, he moved it inside the house.
Two weeks later, my husband found the time to actually put the crib together. He assembled it within 1 hour by himself. I was taking pictures for the baby book while he was doing that. As he was putting it together we were both so impressed with the quality of the paint...Just gorgeous...I have to say that it is a bit larger than I had anticipated and way, way more beautiful than I had imagined. I would buy this again in a heartbeat. As my husband was saying when putting it together: "we don't need to leave it inheritance to our grandchildren; it just needs to serve a purpose for the next 2 years". We are so pleased w/ how it looks in our baby's room...Please, don't get discouraged by the reviews about damaged boxes. We bought both the crib and changing table and none were damaged and they were so well packed inside...When you put them together, they look amazing! We painted the baby's room light blue and we're planning on getting a white/light blue rocker to go with the room.
To give you an idea of the quality of things I bought for our son: the Stokee Stroller, Britax car seat and many other quality brands. I don't just buy for the looks of things. But fortunately for us, this crib set seems to be a mixture of both quality, looks and convenience. I will have to take pics and upload them when I am done with the room.

DaVinci Kalani Convertible Baby Crib Review

(More customer reviews)I was on the fence about spending $600 on a solid crib or this one. I finally decided on this one because as it turned out, the expensive Sorelle also used cam-locks on most of their cribs. So that was the deal breaker. The Kalani is sturdy despite the few cam-locks. Grandpa had no problem with the assembly and finished within an hour. This is for my 3rd child as I converted the old one already. Features that were hard to find in one crib but offered in this one:
1. rich cherry finish that complements other cherry furniture in the baby's room.
2. heavy and sturdy
3. 4 height settings. Perfect for a shorty like me to easily set down a sleepy baby. most cribs only offer 3 settings that are either too far apart or does not make much of a difference.
4. mattress springs. i don't like slats or MDF panel to support my bouncing baby boy. slats are a pain to adjust and MDP could slip and slide around.
5. toddler rail is included, which saves a hundred bucks.
6. converts to a head and footboard sleigh bed.
Cons:
Nothing for the crib. But I would not spend $$ on the furniture accessories from DaVinci. $400 bucks for baby size dressers? MDF and cheaply made? I would recommend going to a furniture store and purchase a real dresser for less or at least comparable that will outlast the crib stage. I have Broyhill dresser, chest, and nightstand for his room that matches the crib and I know will last after he's done with the crib (off to college and converted back to a guest room).
Another recommendation:
corner changing table in cherry. I don't recall the brand but the color match is great and can be used as a credenza once potty trained. fits nicely in a corner, does not take up much space. I don't like the DaVinci changing table as it looks silly to use it as anything else with that immovable side rail.
Crib bumper: PBkids- super thick and 'cushiony' or RHbabyandchild- cover removes for easy washing.

(More customer reviews)My wife and I just finished putting this crib together. It took a total of 25 minutes start to finish. The instructions were extremely easy to follow. We bought this exact crib in honey oak 18 months ago for baby number one and it has worked so well, we ordered the same crib in white for baby number two. Our original crib is in the same great shape as when we first put it together. The only adjustments we have done, where to lower the mattress support heights from higher to lower. Even that process only took a matter of minutes. I have read crib purchase reviews where the box arrived extremely beat up. When ours arrived the outside of the box was a little rough, but the crib pieces inside are very well packed, padded, and wrapped and there was not a scratch on the white finish. The super saver free shipping arrived at our door 6 days from date of purchase. I have never wrote a review for an online purchase before, but we are so pleased with our two cribs that I wanted to pass on a very positive message to those who may be comtemplating buying this crib.
P.S. I'm a physician and this crib could not be any safer...no solid side walls or backing...just the well spaced rounded slates all the way around and no moving parts

(More customer reviews)I was in the market for a bassinet. All I was finding was cardboard and plastic ones that were overpriced for what you get. I came upon this mini crib. Instantly I realized what a good investment it would be. You can only use a bassinet for up to 15 lbs or until the child can turn over. This mini crib is perfect for my bedroom. I can use it much longer also. My husband put it together and it is absolutly beautiful. I realize many people did not leave a lot of feedback on Amazon. However if you check other baby sites, you will find lots and lots of great reviews. This crib is sterdy, well made, all real wood, and beautiful. I purchased the Cherry one. It really is a great deal for the price it costs. It also comes with a small matress. I also purchased sheets from Amazon for it also. Can't wait to use it!! I am VERY satisfied, even better than what I wanted!!

(More customer reviews)I think this crib is a great value for the price. It looks great in my nursery. The detail looks good in person. I debated on whether or not to purchase this crib because I had not seen it in person. It was available online only and was not on display in any of the stores. The gamble paid off. It doesn't look "plasticy" like some of the other lower priced white cribs. And it has a spring thingy that holds the mattress and not the plywood. It has three levels for the mattress. On the highest level, I found it easy to reach in and out and get the baby. As far as the color goes, its a true white.
