Initially I thought that I would need to leave the towel bar on all the time, but we learned that we only need a half hour to an hour to actually warm up the towels. But it can stay on longer if necessary. We actually added a plug-in timer so that the towels would warm up in the morning automatically. Price was good, installation was easy.
