(More customer reviews)I am usualy a big fan of Melissa & Doug toys, however upon reading the toy safety review for this item (put out by HealthyStuff dot Org), I was upset to find that this toy scored a Chemical Level of Medium (High is worst, Low is best). This toy was found to contain Chlorine (PVC). Flexible PVC plastic can contain plasticizers called phthalates. Therefore, detection of high levels of chlorine infers the possible presence of phthalates.
Phthalates, depending on the level of exposure and the type of phthalate, have been linked to harm to reproductive development, especially in boys. They have also been linked to asthma.
