I don't co-sleep my children but the first ~4 months of their lives they sleep in the same room as my husband and I, and the play yard is were they sleep during this period. Also, the play yard is a safe place for our little additions to go to sleep and play away from the other children when necessary (no one needs to be poked and prodded every waking/sleeping moment as toddlers are apt to do with new babies). We had a simplicity play yard that was given to us with our first child but our third child broke the center support (a not so sturdy plastic part on that model) making it no longer safe to use. I could immediately tell that the center support on this model is built much better on this yard. I appreciate that this model is slightly wider giving the baby a little more room. The bassinet is deep enough for the manufacturers maximum limit of 15 lbs. And that weight restriction is perfectly in tune with the size/age that an infant would start rolling over/sitting up making the bassinet unsafe to use anyways. Being able to use the play yard as a complete changing station is a huge advantage over our older model. I have everything I need to do diaper changes right at hand. Though the 3 pound maximum load on the storage unit is a little limiting but, I'm still impressed at the amount of diapering products you can store under 3 lbs. Overall, I am extremely happy with this play yard.
