(More customer reviews)My criteria in buying this replacement for a throw that I'd accidentally melted in the drier were faux (not real) fur and a price point under $100. The blanket arrived well packaged (packaged in a tailored plastic bag to protect from the elements even if the cardboard box it arrived in got wet) and matched the picture above pretty closely.
One side is medium length faux fur (just under 1 inch in length) and, although this is subjective, is pretty soft - when stroking it by hand it feels slightly softer in some directions than others (but doesn't suffer from having one direction which feels rough, which I've found can happen with some products). It's soft enough to hold up to your face and has that 'one more stroke' feel that ends up with you burying your face in it when you think noone is watching! In my experience throws with shorter strands are slightly softer than this one.
The underside is regular microplush and is as soft and warm as you'd expect. Overall the throw does a good job of keeping me warm, although I haven't tested it outside (per the item description). It's still pretty new, but so far I haven't experienced any shedding. Also I haven't cleaned it yet (instructions say dry clean only), so I can't comment on that.
My only regret is the relatively small size of the blanket - this pattern only comes in 56" v 60" - which isn't really enough to cover me head to toe if I want to tuck it underneath my feet. There is a bigger version available in mink, which didn't look as good in the photo, but I'm considering buying it anyway now that I've made friends with its smaller cousin.
